SPECIMEN COLLECTION INSTRUCTIONS:

Do not urinate (pee) for at least 1 hour before you collect you specimen for testing

Remove the clear plastic cup from your specimen collection kit.

Hold the cup directly in line with the urine stream.

Urinate (pee) directly into the clear plastic collection cup.

Place open cup with your urine on a flat surface such as a counter top. This will be your working surface.

Remove the tube labeled “TRANSPORT TUBE” from your specimen collection kit.

Remove the lid from the “TRANSPORT TUBE”.

Stand the “TRANSPORT TUBE”, open end up on the working surface.

Remove the clear plastic suction device with the squeezable bulb on the end from your collection kit. This device is called a pipette.

Squeeze the bulb on the end of the pipette between you thumb and your first finger.

While you are still squeezing the bulb tightly, place the pointed tip of the pipette into the urine (pee) in the cup. Release the bulb. The urine will flow up the barrel of the pipette.

Tilt or slant the pipette so the urine is cause to flow towards the bulb. Place the pointed end of the pipette into the tube labeled “TRANSPORT TUBE”.




13-


Squeeze the bulb between you thumb and your first finger. The urine should flow out of the pipette into the “TRANSPORT TUBE”.
